1) Quantity of Bricks
Brick Size = 9” x 4.5” x 4.5”
Thickness of Wall = 9”
Thickness of Mortar = 0.4”
Therefore, brick size with mortar
= (9+0.4) x
(4.5+0.4) x (4.5+0.4)
= 9.4 x 4.9 x 4.9
Now, Number of bricks = Volume of
Brickwork / (Volume of 1 brick with mortar)
Also, volume of 1 Brick
= 9 x 4.5 x 4.5
= 182.25 cubic inch
We know 1 feet = 12 inches
Therefore, brick size with mortar
= (9+0.4) x (4.5+0.4) x (4.5+0.4)
= 9.4 x 4.9 x 4.9
Now, Number of bricks = Volume of Brickwork / (Volume of 1 brick with mortar)
Also, volume of 1 Brick
= 9 x 4.5 x 4.5
= 182.25 cubic inch
Therefore,
Volume of 1 brick
(feet)
= 182.25 / (12 * 12 *12)
= 0.055 cubic feet
Also,
Volume of 1 brick with mortar
= 9.4 x 4.9 x 4.9
=
225.694 cubic inch
(In feet) = 225.694 / (12 * 12 *12)
Volume of 1 brick with mortar = 0.131 cubic feet
Now,
Volume of Brick
= (Height x length x Width) of
wall
= 10 x 6 x 9/12
= 45 cubic feet
Therefore,
Number of bricks
= Volume of Brickwork / (Volume of 1 brick
with mortar)
= 45 / 0.131
= 344 bricks
Also,
there will wastage of brick, let it consider to be = 10 % of brick wastage
Therefore,
Number of bricks
= 344 + (344 x 0.1)
= 378 bricks
2) Quantity of Cement
Firstly,
Volume of Bricks = Volume of 1 brick x Number of bricks
Volume of
Bricks
= 0.055
cubic feet x 378
= 20.79 cubic feet
Therefore,
Quantity of
Mortar
= Quantity of Brickwork -
Volume of Bricks
= 45 – 29.79
= 24.21 cubic feet
Let Mix Ratio -> 1:6
Dry Volume of Mortar
= Wet Volume x 33 % of Volume
= wet volume x (1 + 0.33)
= 24.21 x 1.33
= 32.2 cubic feet
= [{Dry Volume of Mortar
x cement Ratio} / (Sum of Ratio)
= 32.2 x 1 / (1+5)
= 5.37 cubic feet
We know, the density Of Cement = 1440
kg/m³
Also, 1 m³ = 35.29 Cubic Feet
Therefore,
Quantity of Cement (m³)
= 5.37 / 35.29
= 0.152 m³
Therefore,
= 1440 x .0152
= 218 kg
Also,
we know, in 1 bag of cement
= 50 kg of cement
∴,
=
218.98 / 50
=
4.38
(approx.) = 5 bags
3) Quantity Of Sand
Ratio-> 1:5
∴,
= Quantity of Cement x 5
=5.37 x 5
=26.85 Cubic Feet
Also, 1 m³=35.29 Cubic Feet
∴,
Quantity of Sand
= 26.85 / 35.29
= 0.760 m³
We know, Density of sand
= 1600 kg/m³
∴,
